Raven laughed. “My dad charges good money for a service like that.”

Jacqueline snorted. “Do you even know what that means?”

Raven looked away.

I said, “Don’t be mean.”

Jacqueline snorted again. “That’s rich, coming from you.”

“What did I do?” I asked, almost screaming, but controlling it at the last, knowing it wouldn’t help them relax, or me to understand. “OW!”

“A bump,” Annette said. “There’s a bump.” She crawled back to her starting point, shrugging at the other girls, as if they perhaps thought she was making it up.

“Then there’s only one thing to do,” Lucy said.
