Some of you may be aware of my behemoth of a novel, TELL ME SOMETHING TRUE.
At over 275,000 words, it is a little heavy on the hands, not to say the pocket, as CreateSpace & Amazon retail it at around £15/$19.
Now, despite it being a long tale, I believe it is an interesting one, and well worth the time and effort required. But, of course, I probably would say this, right? 😉
So, I have come up with an idea…
I will remove the current full edition that is available on Kindle or as a Paperback, and re-publish the novel in four parts.
The book is already split into four cliff-hanger-y sections, based around the four seasons in a year (yes, Summer, Autumn, Winter & Spring), and it is my idea to re-publish one in each quarter of the coming year on the first day of each of those seasons (June 1st, September 1st, December 1st, March 1st), thus building into a 4-book series spread over a year.
While a 720 page book can feel a little scary to pick up, four 180 page books should feel quite tasty by comparison.
Also, it gives me a chance to re-edit as I go.
Oh, and I intend to make the first part available as a FREE eBook, throughout the year. And the subsequent three parts should all retail for less than £5 or $7. Well, that is the hope; and having had a quick run through the numbers, I believe this is doable.
Any thoughts/suggestions/comments? All appreciated. 🙂
In case you weren’t aware, but would like some of your writing (fiction or non-fiction) worked on, the editor over at http://www.EconomyEdits.com is available for a project or two during the first three weeks of December. Check out the site for more information.
Failing that, I (for yes, it is I 🙂 ) will probably work on an early novel for one client and/or write the first draft for the third Wonky Monky novella.
I may also have room for a project or two between March 16 & April 15.
Just an idea I’m floating out there…
I would like a unique image for my REAL LIVE DEAD DENNY novel (see recent post), and have said image in mind.
However, I cannot draw.
But I can edit – see http://www.economyedits.com
So I was thinking… if YOU can draw, and you would like some editing work done by ME, perhaps we could trade skills?
Let me know and we can discuss?
Well, having completed this
a couple of days earlier than scheduled, I might try and pull my finger out and work on editing my own fiction for a change. Denny the Zombie has been patiently waiting now, for however long it’s been (I dare not think) since the first draft completion. 63k in 4-5 days might be a bit of a stretch, but I can at least make a concentrated start.
Then there’s also notes for Wonky 3 to gather, dust off and order, as I might try to get a head start on that during my proposed 2 wk holiday over christmas and new year. 😮 😉 We shall see.
Apologies for being super-quiet here, but there was the Twitter-based 3words Wonky story. And I’ve been editing my little socks off. Oh, and spending some quality time online with m’lady. 🙂
No, this isn’t the post I promised regarding my favourite Indie Writers, although that is still coming… This is about the wonderful writers who employ me as their editor. Yes, I just posted at EconomyEdits, but some of you only know me here, so I thought I would share, because it makes me THAT happy. 🙂
I know I have said it before, but I will say it again…
I edit for the most wonderful writers. I really do. I feel truly blessed.
I sent them all an email today asking if they might have anything wanting an edit in January to April 2015, trying to gauge my schedule, and I already have the following pencil-booked:
05/01-20/01 … MAL HoO 1st
21/01-31/01 … MBS 1st
02/02-14/02 … JEN v2 final
16/02-28/02 … REB/DS 2
02/03-14/03 … MAL HoO final
15/03-19/04 … ??
20/04-09/05 … MAL BF 1st
10/05-14/06 … ??
15/06-27/06 … REB DS 3
I don’t edit for others as much as I could, because I also like to write my own fiction. And I probably don’t charge as much as I could, but I’m still happy with my rates. The above will provide a liveable income, and possibly even help fund a dream holiday I would like to take to the USA around the end of March/early April. So things are looking decidedly rosy today, and it’s all thanks to these wonderful writers and their amazing imaginations. 🙂
as posted at EconomyEdits…
It is never too early, but you could leave it too late…
